Employment

The Next Step Advisor prepares AIALC's students through the avenues of college and career readiness skills. Through job fairs, soft skills training, and maintaining relationships with community partners, we can offer preparation beyond the classroom to ensure our students are ready to take those "Next Steps." The Next Step Advisor assists students in the development of Individual Employment Plans to include support services and career counseling, navigation, placement, and retention support. Assist in administering the student intake process including diagnostic tests and informal tests for the screening of students and placement of students. Develop and implement employer engagement plan; organize employer-led workshops and trainings that encompass employer feedback and needs.

Please contact our Next Step Advisor, Andrea Paquin, at 401-847-7171 or email andrea@newportcommunityschool.org, for more information and opportunities.

Student Support Services

The Pathways Case Manager (PCM) assists students with the educational attainment of their goals. The PCM administers the student intake process including screening as well as administering testing and placement of students. The PCM also supports students in overcoming barriers related to adult education that impede life goals, employment, and re-employment. The PCM conducts follow-up services with AIALC students on a regular and ongoing basis to foster student success as well as assisting in organizing job fairs and facilitating work readiness and soft skill training for AIALC students. The PCM works in collaboration and outreach with community agencies for the betterment of the Newport Community School's students and programs. Outside agency referrals are made by the PCM who serves as the AIALC program Learning Disabilities Designee. Students are welcome to meet with the PCM at any time should they seek emotional, behavioral, physical, mental, financial, or learning assistance.
