Senior Project

Senior Project: Senior project should be something you take pride in – this is your chance to leave your legacy with a memorable project. Senior Project or a comparable product is a requirement of RIDE and, therefore, must bear some weight in the graduation process. One-half credit (0.5) value will be entered on the transcript upon completion of all components and is obligatory if a student is to be awarded a district diploma. Each component is scored and has a due date attributed to it. This process will be monitored and scored by the Senior Project Coordinator.  The Senior Project will consist of college/career components and community service. All students are required to complete a resume, essay, letter of intent, thank you letter, and final presentation. In addition, students must complete 15 hours of community service or a job shadowing/internship that coincides with their senior project topics.  For more information, please click HERE to access the materials.

Extended Learning Opportunities

During Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO), students learn in part, or in whole, outside of the classroom through rigorous, relevant, and personalized instruction. ELOs are student-driven and assess the student’s mastery of course competencies through demonstration. ELOs align with the school curriculum. The opportunity is rigorous and grounded in frequent assessment of student progress and growth. Through ELOs, students can earn credit to be used towards graduation.

Extended Learning Opportunities include four components: research, reflection, product, and presentation.

Examples of ELO projects:

  • Design and create a children’s book

  • Write a legal brief

  • Hold a sports clinic

  • Design Underwater Robot

  • Create a photography portfolio

  • Learn about cyber security and compete in CyberPatriot competitions
